HOW TO HANDLE: INTERVIEW NERVES

Hey guys!

I'm so sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been so busy with sixth form, and I just haven't had the chance to write recently. *cries*

I have a few posts coming up, but my camera and laptop haven't been getting along so as soon as they become friends again, some more fashion/beauty related posts will be up. So I decided I'd write a little lifestyle/how to post on interview nerves as I had my first ever job interview last Saturday and I GOT THE JOB!

So, everyone knows that nerves always kick in before a job interview, and if you've never had one before it's even more nerve-racking! Anyway, I got super nervous for my interview. As I had to wait over a week (nearly two!) until my interview I had so much time to worry and fret about it... and in the end there was absolutely no reason for me to be worrying.

You can never be certain on what questions you're going to be asked during your interview, and you don't always know what they are expecting of you, so these are my Top 5 Tips for preparing and dealing with the nerves!

1. Do some background research on the company. Most businesses will have an online website with an 'About' page with key bits of information & their values. Have a little read of that a day or two before your interview, find out things such as how many stores they have, how long they've been established & the values/things they believe in. This way, you could incorporate some of this into your answers, and if they ask a question about the company you won't be completely stumped!

2. Find some common interview questions which may come up & practice some answers. The question 'Tell me a bit about yourself' will more than likely come up so try and think of some at least slightly interesting things about yourself to tell. They just want to find out a little more about who you are & what you do.

3. Don't over prepare! This is easily done when your nerves are taking over. Over preparing can easily stress you out more, as you'll find more and more questions which you may not have an answer for & half the time, most of the questions don't even come up! As well as this, you don't want to over prepare so much that you're memorizing your answers & end up speaking like a robot!

4. Make sure you arrive on time/a bit early! Don't arrive too early (e.g 20 minutes early), but 5 or 10 minutes early is always good. It gives the employer a good first impression of you, being late will just stress you out even more about it and the employer will wonder whether you are always this way.

5. Dress appropriately! Depending on what sort of job you're being interviewed for will determine what you should wear. But if you're worried about what to wear, if anything, definitely go too smart than too laid back! You'll then look as though you've made an effort and a lot of employers get a huge idea of you by what you're wearing. I wore some dark navy trousers, a peach coloured blouse, some brown pumps and a blazer :)

I hope this helped any of you worrying about a job interview, but honestly, it's not as bad as it seems at all! I was worrying like there was no tomorrow about mine, and I got there and they were so friendly and I felt totally comfortable. Just smile, be friendly & polite and remember, you're not going to die! :)

A new beauty post will be up soon about a lovely giveaway I won by Libby at Life of Libby :)

SLEEK POUT POLISH IN ELECTRO PEACH: REVIEW

Hello everyone!
As you may all be aware, during my trip to Milton Keynes a few weeks ago I managed to finally get hold of some Sleek products. I fancied trying out one of their lip products, and after reading various reviews, I opted for one of their pout polishes, and I am not disappointed.

After some extremely hard decision making, I chose to get the colour 946 Electro Peach. I was a bit nervous in trying this colour as the shade looks very bright and almost neon coloured. But fear not! You can easily control how intense the colour looks on your lips - so don't turn away! This lip conditioner is a lovely orangey-coral colour when on the lips. With a small amount applied you will have only a slight coral tint, but I like to layer it up most of the time to create a highly pigmented, bold colour! I wasn't expecting it to be capable of giving such colour to your lips, so I was pleasantly surprised. An extra bonus is that it contains SPF 15, so it is super protective and nourishing to your lips.

But it doesn't stop there! This lip conditioner has a lovely texture and is slightly creamy, so it isn't uncomfortable to wear in the slightest. It isn't as sticky as most lip balms/lip glosses are so your hair won't be getting stuck to your lips in the wind quite so much - I know how annoying that can be!

But, one of my favourite things about this product has got to be the scent. It has a lovely vanilla scent to it which you can originally smell when it's first on the lips but it disappears soon after. I wouldn't say it has a taste to it personally, but I've read some complain about it's taste... so I'm not quite sure what they're on about.

My only dislike with this product is that it is not very long-lasting throughout the day. I find myself reapplying fairly regularly, although the colour doesn't get completely lost, for me it leaves a drab stain on my lips which I'm not too keen on. But despite this, I still love it and have found myself wearing it nearly every day since buying it, and for £4.49, what is there to complain about?!

Finally there are some rather pout-y pictures of me wearing the lip conditioner on my lips. I don't think my camera captures it too well but you can still see the colour.

So if you love a highly pigmented lip conditioner, this is a must for you. I haven't tried any of the other colours in the Sleek Pout Polish range, but I definitely plan to :) You can purchase this product here.

PREVIEW: RIVER ISLAND A/W 2013 COLLECTION

River Island have revealed a few items from their AW13 Collection which will be appearing in stores shortly. Personally, I wasn't too keen on many of the things coming up, either because they're far too 'over the top' for me or they just wouldn't suit me at all! But these were a few of the items coming up which caught my eye. The range seems to include lots of lovely patterned items, bright & bold coloured tote bags and metallics. The range will definitely bring a lot of colour (and originality) into your autumn/winter wardrobe!

I love these studded, heeled brogues in a lovely metallic bronze colour. They're different to any other shoes I've seen before (mainly because of the amazing colour!) and can without a doubt be dressed up or down. Being super short at 5"4 they are also the perfect height for me as I can't walk in high heels at all. I'm not sure how much these will be but hopefully they won't be too expensive so I can own these beauties for myself!
The jumper also caught my eye massively, with different contrasting embroidered prints and the metallic detailing on the shoulders you would think it would all clash terribly. But in fact, it just all seems to work so well together and has a very vintage-esque look. And who doesn't love a patterned winter knit?!

Featuring many thick, cosy & snuggly winter coats, this is the one I am lusting for the most The deep berry red colour is such a classic autumn/winter colour and it compliments my tanned skin tone so nicely. Although, I reckon it will be a little on the pricey side so I may have a gander for a cheaper alternative.

Oh, how I love this bag. It's so bold and bright and would definitely make you stand out from the crowd if you're carrying this around in the winter!

And last but not least, back again with the gorgeous prints on this lovely dress. The pale pink colour is quite summery for an autumn/winter dress but that's why I like it. You could fool your summer blues away by wearing this dress with a thick knitted jumper and the collar poking out. You can still feel a little bit summery in the cold winter months!

You can have a look at the other items hitting River Island stores soon HERE

I think this new upcoming collection is definitely proof that a winter wardrobe doesn't have to be all doom and gloom... what do you guys think?

TARTAN, FRILLS & LIP COLOUR: My September Wishlist

1 - Tartan Tee, £30.00, from Topshop. Tartan is right on trend this autumn/winter and this tee is perfect! I personally love the boxy looking fit of it and its a lovely tartan pattern. The only downside to it is the price, but it sure looks worth it!
2 - Lace Trim Ankle Socks, £3.50, Topshop. I'm sure everyone owns a pair of these socks, but I STILL don't own a pair for some strange reason. I just know these would look so cute paired with a pair of ankle boots and rolled up/cropped jeans this autumn!
3 - Black Disco Pants, £30.00, Miss Selfridge. Again, I STILL don't own a pair of black disco pants... or any colour disco pants for that matter. As much as I want a pair I have just never had the money! I can imagine pairing these with the Tartan tee from Topshop would look so gorgeous. They're just such a staple piece which can be dressed up or down so easily.
4 - Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon in Orange Punch, £7.99, Superdrug. I've swatched this product a gazillion times whilst being in Superdrug/Boots but I've just never actually bought it. The colour is so gorgeous and I've heard many within the beauty sphere raving about the Colour Boost Lip Crayon selection. Instead of leaving without it, I must get my hands on one of these during my next trip to Superdrug!!
5 - Black Cut Out Boots, £27.99, New Look. I'm in love the grunge-y look to cut out boots and I really want to pair these with some frilly socks/tights and a dress this autumn/winter. I saw these in a New Look store a couple of weeks ago but I was just a few pounds short... how annoying! :( And for £27.99, how can you go wrong?!

Comment and let me know what would be on your September wishlist!

SLEEK FACE CONTOUR KIT AND BLUSHER REVIEW

Hello everyone! Just over a week ago, me and my boyfriend went to Milton Keynes to do a little bit of shopping! When I saw that the superdrug there sold Sleek products, I knew I had to buy a few bits as I've heard so much about them within the beauty sphere. I knew their blushers are super raved about - seemingly by everyone - so I picked up the shade 'Flushed' for only £4.49!

The first thing that stood out to me with this blush was how pigmented the colour looks! The shade is a deep berry shade with a little bit of shimmer (which doesn't show once applied), and it's beautiful. Others may shy away from how deeply pigmented it looks but you shouldn't - it gives such a lovely, natural, rosy-cheeked look. The best thing is, as it is so pigmented you only need a little bit on your brush (don't be too heavy handed, especially with lighter skin tones), so you know it's going to last you a while!

It also has such a silky, smooth formation and compared to my Natural Collection Blusher it's so soft to touch. I also found that it's super easy to blend, so you're not going to look like a clown with little red circles on your cheeks!!

I have used this blush every day for the past week and I am so utterly in love with it, it lasts all day despite the fact that I don't use a primer. It also has no scent to it so you won't be getting a whiff of a strange smell throughout your day. It's just wonderful!

Finally, for £4.49, who can go wrong?! With such chic packaging it looks like it would be much more expensive than this.

I also bought the much raved about Sleek Face Contour Kit in the shade 'Medium' for £6.49 as my skin is fairly tanned/olive toned. The Face Contour Kit consists of a bronzer and a highlighter, with a nice sized mirror in the (very SLEEK) packaging, which is brilliant for travelling!

The product comes with two sides, a larger side with the bronzing/sculpting powder, whilst the smaller side is a lovely highlighting powder. The only problem I found with the highlighter is that it doesn't seem to show up very much on my skin tone, but it's still lovely to use as it does add a little more brightness to my face.

The texture is certainly great and easy to work with. It is easily blend-able and as it isn't too powdery, it is easy to get the right amount on the brush without getting too much on the brush and turning yourself into an oompa loompa...

It is not really a bronzer you would use all over your face for a bronzing effect, it is definitely more suited as a contour. The colour of the contour isn't orange at all either, and suits my tanned/olive skin perfectly. You do have to make sure that you don't pile on too much though, a streak of brown across your face is not a good look...

Here I swatched the blush and the contour quite heavily to really show just how pigmented they are! My camera just wouldn't pick up the colour of the highlighter so I gave up with that. As you can see, the blush can come out very heavy so you've got to be careful with it.

Let me know if you own either of these products and what you think of them :)

I also have another sleek product I will be doing a separate review on fairly soon!

Hope you liked this post and don't forget to follow me with GFC and on bloglovin' :)
